In the first episode, the master of the MC said that he stole something in the palace and later give it to the MC. The Shifu stole some secret skill, gave to the disciple and then when the MC said that he learn it, then the master burn it too before the bad guys got to the house.

In many similar series, a secret skill can't be stolen from other people, so the bad guys want the MC alive to try to steal the secrets later.

I think they think the master gave him the treasure they needed.
